With her purpose-built Nissan Sentra race car, Valerie tends to lead from the front on the race track. But apart from race-specific equipment such as a roll cage, slick tires and a fuel cell, this Sentra is just like the one you can drive off a lot. And while the sleek shape certainly helps on the track, the Sentra also packs the features and performance to go along with its attractive styling.
With a 2.0L engine that packs 149 hp, you’ll feel the sporty nature of this sedan. But an upscale interior and a long list of standard and available features makes this compact car feel larger and more luxurious. The options of heated seats and steering wheel, push button start and remote start, and an eight-speaker Bose stereo system, among others, will make the drive more comfortable for your daily commute. And Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite of driver assist systems, such as Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, is standard on every model. Its real trick, though, is the balance between a smooth and dynamic drive. A multilink rear suspension and electric steering help give this compact sedan sharp handling without being harsh. “I really like the handling of the car, it has a good balance,” says Valerie. “Obviously, the two cars are different, but you don’t want to drive a race car on the street.” The Nissan Sentra offers premium looks and features at an affordable price. And if you’re wondering how fun they are to drive, just ask Valerie – if you can catch her.
Paul and Alex hold a wealth of knowledge about Nissan’s performance and racing heritage. Their shop is an exciting peek at the vehicles revered by enthusiasts and what Nissan has been capable of on and off the track.
As Alex says, Nissan always had a platform that appealed to the enthusiast. And Paul points out that’s still true to this day. “I definitely think the new Z carries the heritage, not just in the styling, but in the performance realm as well.” Does it ever. The latest iteration of Nissan’s famous Z cars comes from a long line that started with the 240Z in 1969, and carries on the original’s tradition of sharp handling, impressive power-to-weight ratio and stunning styling, all that in a modern package.
With 400 hp, a Synchro-Rev six-speed manual gearbox – or nine-speed auto with Downshift Rev Matching – a limited-slip differential and launch control, it’s built to be a driver’s car, a purist’s dream. And you’ll find that every time you power out of a corner and punch the gas. For the guys at Grassroots Performance – and so many other thrill-seekers, too – this latest Nissan sports car has proven worthy to carry the ‘Z’ on its fender. And Alex, for one, couldn’t be happier. “Nissan has maintained its heritage by continuing to build enthusiast-based cars.”
As a tri-athlete, Claire pushes her boundaries every day when it comes to training, and she needs a strong partner to help carry around all her equipment – that’s where the Nissan Rogue comes in. But it’s also a capable crossover suited for her family’s adventures.
This mid-sized crossover offers the space and capabilities for almost anything Claire can throw at it, from the grocery run to a jaunt up into the mountains. It has an efficient 1.5L VC Turbo engine with a continuously variable transmission, good for 201 hp and 225 lb.-ft. of torque. It also boasts a great fuel economy with ratings of 8.4 L/100km city and 6.7 L/100km highway, so she can spend less time at the pumps and more time having fun. Competing in three different sports with the triathlon, there’s a lot of baggage that comes with that – quite literally. The Rogue delivers with up to 2,098L of cargo space with the rear seats down, so Claire doesn’t have to worry about leaving anything behind. And the Rogue also offers the dependability and reliability she needs to get her out training and, more importantly, back again. The Rogue is also engineered to help keep everyone safe on their adventures. Its Intelligent All-Wheel Drive will help to keep things sure-footed, and for more confidence, there are also five different drive modes: Sport, Off Road, Snow, Auto and Eco. The Rogue also comes with multiple driver assist features and was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Nissan Rogue is ready for adventure! Are you?
Jocelyn and Mark have a truck capable of bringing them on extreme, off-road adventures. Their custom-built Nissan Frontier has the reliability, capability and modularity to get them out into nature and back home again.
But even though these serious off-road hobbyists added a whole bunch of custom features, they still needed a solid base to work with. And that’s where the Frontier came in. “We picked the Nissan Frontier because we were looking for a smaller truck that was able to get around on the small trails but also had the capability to do truck things,” recounts Mark.
Right off the lot, the Frontier is ready for maximum work and play. The third-generation Frontier has two available cab layouts, so you can choose what best fits your lifestyle. A 3.8L V6 offers 310 hp and 210 lb.-ft. of torque, with an efficient nine-speed automatic transmission, providing more than enough power on and off the road. Standard four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case will also get you out of tight spots.
With up to 6,490 lbs of tow capacity, Intelligent Around View Monitor, Trailer Sway Control and Tow-Haul Mode, you don’t have to worry about leaving your toys behind. A max payload of up to 1,430 lbs will get your adventure gear there, too.
For either work or play, Nissan Frontier offers the capabilities for whatever you need a mid-sized truck to do.
Daine’s attention to detail with his Nissan Desert Runner is impressive. The 1988 pickup would look at home in a showroom just as much as it would bounding along the dunes of the Baja 1000. In Daine’s words, it’s like he’s driving a dream from his childhood.
Nissan hasn’t forgotten about the desert. It entered a 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek in the Rebelle Rally in the California and Nevada deserts, covering almost 2,500 km of difficult off-road terrain, proving the vehicle’s capabilities. The mid-sized Pathfinder SUV is one of Nissan’s legendary nameplates, proving itself as both a comfortable people mover and a competent off-roader. A 3.5L V6 has 284 hp, and with seating for seven or eight, depending on configuration, and a cargo space of up to 471 litres, it’s fit for adventure for the family and all their gear.
The Pathfinder Rock Creek edition adds beefier tires, off-road suspension, a roof rack and other features to help get you out into the wild more safely. It’s these kinds of details that makes the Pathfinder the ideal adventure vehicle for you and your family. And while this isn’t a toy like Daine’s little four-wheeler, the Pathfinder can take your toys with you, with a tow capacity of up to 6,000 lbs.
Bring on the desert, or wherever the adventure may be; the Nissan Pathfinder is ready.
Poised to perform.
